Do you think that war has no real winners?

Do you think that responding to conflict with violence is counterproductive?

Do you think that a permanent war economy drains resources from human needs?

Do you think that a renewed commitment to non-
violent conflict resolution and peacebuilding is
essential to avert an escalating global war?

You're not alone.

Between October 4 and 6, 2002, come to Salt Spring Island, BC to respond to our current climate of war by Escalating Peace.

Escalating Peace, a joint peace conference of the Canadian Peace Alliance, Canadian Voice of Women for Peace and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, will bring together people who believe that there are alternatives to war, violence and militarism.

Together, we will explore how to strengthen the commitment to Escalating Peace in ourselves, our families, our societies, our governments, our economies and around the world. You are warmly invited to participate in Escalating Peace.

Most meetings and activities will be open to everyone, including panels on Women and Peacebuilding Friday evening and Preserving Outer Space for Peace on Saturday evening as well as workshops on a variety of topics on Saturday. Everyone may attend the Canadian Peace Alliance convention meetings on Friday and Sunday morning.

Our goal is more than a stimulating peace conference. Our goal is to reinvigorate our commitment to Escalating Peace, to strengthen our capacity for Escalating Peace and to share new ways to communicate the importance of Escalating Peace. We hope you will join us to share your ideas.
