Montréal, 1 juin, 13h30. Spectacle de marionnettes pour la paix. Le Théâtre Le Paravent en collaboration avec le projet Cultivons la paix présente un spectacle de marionnettes pour toute la famille gravitant autour du thème de la paix et de la tolérance. L’histoire, intitulée «Et toi, qui es-tu?», raconte les aventures de Niko Zito, un gentil poète extraterrestre qui se retrouve sur Terre à la suite de la destruction de sa planète qui fût occasionné par une terrible guerre. «Appartenir à un tout comme un tout et non seulement comme une partie de lui» (Niko). Dans l’intention de participer à l’élaboration d’une culture de paix tout en ayant le désir profond que cette histoire soit amusante pour les enfants et pour celui qui sommeille dans le coeur de chaque adulte. Nous vous invitons, Niko, son amie Rita, Madame Belle. Précieuse et tous les autres personnages, à partager cette histoire dans laquelle les différences sont claires et nettes mais n’empêchent en rien la naissance de l’amitié et de la convivialité. Toronto, June 1, 2:30 pm. What Should the Future of the Earth Look Like from a Religious Perspective? An inter-faith panel will present religious perspectives in response to the environmental crisis and consider the role of faith and spirituality in the political and ecological struggle for the future. Panelists include: Tuvia Aronson, Jewish Environmental Educator; Atif Khalil, Centre for the Study of Religion, U of T, Muslim perspective; Eisel Mazard, Green Party and University of Toronto Buddhist Community; Tahira Naylor, law student, Baha'i perspective; Mick Panesar, teacher, field biologist and activist, Sikh perspective; plus others TBA. Toronto, June 3, 2002. Transformative Learning Summer Institute begins. The Transformative Learning Centre of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto presents its Third Annual Summer Institute, to be held from June 3-27, 2002. The Summer Institute is open to all members of the community. You are invited to take one course, or many! Our Courses: Understanding & Creating Democratic Media; Feminist Perspectives On Environmental Conflicts; Economic Crisis And Sustainable Community Development; Introduction To Popular Theatre & Social Transformation; Identity-Based Conflict & Conflict Transformation; Environmental Education For Community Organizing; The Business Case For Sustainability: Talking Their Language. The Transformative Learning Centre (TLC) was created in September of 1993. The various faculty members, students and community members that formed the TLC were looking for a way of creating a stronger sense of community and collaboration in broad areas of environmental, feminist, anti-racist, aboriginal, adult and popular education theory and practice. The summer institute is a successful breaching of the divide between academia and community, is open to everyone, inexpensive and at the forefront of critical and creative theory and praxis.
