Resolution on Comprehensive federal election strategy
Whereas
- Millions of people - the large majority of people - pay attention to the
positions of political parties during an election;
- Foreign policy is expected to be a much more important issue in the next
federal election;
Be it resolved
- that the CPA comprehensively mobilize its members in the pre-election
and federal election period with the goal of shifting the House of Commons
against war, occupations and increased military spending with efforts such
as:
- urging local groups to develop plans to lobby M.P.s and hold public debates
and other actions in cities and towns across Canada;
- calling for the defeat of candidates who support the occupation of Afghanistan
or who oppose reduced military spending;
- asking political parties comprehensive, key questions and post replies
(or links to the websites of smaller parties) on our website as available
in the next federal election.
- undertaking a vigorous media strategy
- producing downloadable materials on party positions, issues and facts
for all-candidates meetings and media;
- sponsoring or finding co-sponsors to broadcast foreign policy debates
(French and English) during the election campaign
