
The Canadian Peace Alliance works to build support for goals that include:
- redirecting funds from military spending to human needs;
- working toward global nuclear disarmament;
- making Canada a consistent leader for world peace;
- strengthening world institutions for the peaceful resolution of conflict;
- protecting the rights of all people to work for peace, social & economic justice.
The Canadian Peace Alliance is supported by the generosity of indivdual and institutional donors as well as membership fees collected from our member groups. We receive no core government funding and no corporate funding.

Donations to the Canadian Peace Alliance are used to campaign for peace and for non-violent approaches to resolving conflicts. Individual supporters are encouraged to participate directly in campaigns by writing letters to MPs, circulating petitions developed by the CPA and becoming involved in local peace organizations. The Canadian Peace Alliance invites peace groups to submit a listing for the web site and keeps a longer list in the office.
The Canadian Peace Alliance encourages peace organizations across the country to become members the Canadian Peace Alliance and thus to play a role in determining Canadian Peace Alliance policies and campaigns. The Canadian Peace Alliance convention, held every two years, determines the next two years' programme via campaign resolutions submitted by member groups. Between conventions, the Steering Committee, made up of representatives of member groups, is responsible for ensuring that the programme determined at the convention is implemented. Member groups and other organizations are encouraged to join CPA-organized campaigns and to use CPA resources to support their own activities.
The Canadian Peace Alliance prepares policy statements The Canadian Peace Alliance also represents the views of individual supporters and member groups in consultations with the federal government and lobbies politicians.
The Canadian Peace Alliance is a legally incorporated non-profit organization but not a registered charity. This means that we are unable to provide receipts for tax purposes. More on this ...
The Canadian Peace Alliance was founded in 1985 and is Canada's largest umbrella peace organization. More than one hundred organizations are members of the Canadian Peace Alliance.
