Cross-Canada Day to Oppose War on Iraq
November 16 and 17, 2002
Last updated: November 14, 2002, 4:30 pm EST.
On November 17, 2001, more than 20,000 people in at least 25 communities across Canada organized public events to oppose the war in Afghanistan. One year later, we face the likelihood of a war on Iraq.
Once again, people across Canada are organizing peace and anti-war rallies, marches, demonstrations and events. Will you be part of a cross-Canada effort to keep Canada from joining this latest US war?
The Canadian Peace Alliance invites everyone to prominently show the peace symbol to demonstrate your opposition to war on Iraq. Use it on signs, on t-shirts, on face paint - anywhere you can share the message of peace. You can make your own or download our image:
You can also download a window sign for your home or office - it's tabloid size (11 by 17) and in pdf format (you need Adobe Acrobat to read it). Download.

On the same weekend as the Canadian day of action against war, School of the Americas Watch is organizing a massive vigil, rally and non-violent direct action outside the Fort Benning military base in Columbus Georgia. Thousands of people from the US, Canada and elsewhere in the Americas will be coming together to call for the closing of the notorious US Army's School of the Americas (aka "Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation"). For over 50 years the Latin American graduates of this school have returned to their home countries to oppress, torture, disappear and murder those who dare to try to resist the US corporate-military agenda of exploitation and control. School of the Americas Watch supporters will be taking part in the Canadian Day of Action marches in Vancouver, Victoria & hopefully elsewhere.
