Day of Action Against a War on Iraq

On January 18th, 2003 thousands of people will take part in marches, demonstrations, rallies and events across Canada and around the world to protest the looming war on Iraq.
The Day of Action will mark the 12th anniversary of the last Gulf War and coincides with Martin Luther King Day.
The Canadian Peace Alliance and the Canadian Network to End Sanctions on Iraq urge all Canadians to partipate in these events to strongly demonstrate the Canadian public's opposition to a war on Iraq.

Vancouver - March for Peace, Gather at 1:00 p.m. at Library Square, 350 West Georgia St. (at Homer), the march will be followed by teach-ins, educationals, targeted actions and cultural events throughout the city. Contact info needed. Halifax - Halifax Peace March and Rally, the march starts at 1:00 pm at the Commons Triangle (Bell and Cogswell Roads). The rally will be at 2:00pm at the Queen Elizabeth High School Auditorium (1929 Robie St.)Fredericton - Residents will gather for a march against War and U.S. Imperialism along with a lively street party.Gather at City Hall at 1pm. Children are encouraged to bring any war toys in exchange for 'peace certificates'.There will be a Samba band and lots of creative puppets, costumes and street theatre.

Thunder Bay - The Thunder Bay Peace Coalition is asking all concerend citizens to gather at the Victoriaville Centre at 12 pm for an afternoon peace rally. The event will open with a peace prayer from an Ojibwe elder. Speakers from various social, labour, and political groups will address the peace issue.
An aboriginal drum circle will start our march to Thunder Bay City Hall and then we will continue to St. Andrews Church for a community dialouge
St. John's, Newfoundland - An Interfaith Peace Vigil will be held at the parking lot of the Mosque beginning at 12:00(noon)
Truro - It will be in front of the police station, weather inclement in the sanctuary of St. John's Anglican Church on Jan 18 at 10:00 am.
It will include speakers, special music and prayer.

Tofino, B.C. - International Day of Action Rally
We will be meeting at noon at the gazebo in the middle of town where we will have music, lots of great works of art from the Art for Peace day and a pin the brain on the moron game (we are creating a cut out of George Bush and people will take turns trying to pin the brain on the moron). It should be tons of fun. This will be followed with a march through town.

peace. It will appeal to families and people of all ages, with indoor
children's arts and crafts activities, speakers, and a music jam and
sing-along planned before a short march and vigil. The event will be held in
the basement of the United Church on Main Street beginning at noon and will
culminate with a peace march to the Elijah Smith Building at 1:30 pm.
Participants are asked to wear green and yellow 'peace colours" for the
